Rooted in Community, Ready to Serve
Community Advocate and Leader
Jean Xu has spent years bringing people together to amplify voices, expand opportunities, and make local government more responsive. With broad experience, she knows how to deliver results and build a community where all can thrive.
Lifted by Community
Thirty-four years ago, Jean arrived in America with $100, two suitcases, and no one to call. She spent her first night in an airport and worked hard to build a life in Howard County. Along the way, neighbors lifted her family up, inspiring her lifelong commitment to giving back.
Giving Back with Gratitude
For 20 years, Jean has strengthened the community through service, leadership, and volunteerism. She served as a PTA officer, founded the Chinese American Parent Association, and supported nonprofits like Howard County General Hospital and the YMCA. Jean has also held key public roles, including Chair of the Ethics Commission and member of the Board of Appeals and the HCPSS Budget Review Committee.
A Full-Time Commitment to You
Now Jean is ready to do even more on the County Council. Serving you will be her full-time focus and top priority. She will be present, responsive, and fully dedicated—because you deserve nothing less.
